Did Bambu Lab’s Large 3D Printer Just Leak?

A Reddit post has shared an “alleged” leak of a large, dual-extruder Bambu Lab machine called the H2D, but not everyone is convinced it’s legitimate.

A weekend Reddit post shows an image it claims could be Bambu Lab’s next 3D printer – a supposed “leak” that does seem to fit with recent Bambu Lab patent filings.

The post shows an image that “allegedly comes from the printing factory contracted to print Bambu Lab’s leaflets,” stopping shy of claiming the leak is accurate itself. We’re not sure where the image was acquired from at the time of writing.

If the leak is true, Bambu Lab’s highly anticipated large 3D printer will be named the Bambu Lab H2D and have machine dimensions of 492 x 514 x 626 mm. No doubt not all that added space will represent more build volume, but it’s a significant increase to the X1C’s 389 × 389 × 457 mm machine dimensions.

[LEAK] Bambu Lab H2D – Discussion

The H2D image appears to show a dual extruder dependant hot-end system, which aligns well with patents we’ve already based some speculation on and Bambu Labs co-founder Huaiyu “Sprite” Liu’s earlier statements that “we know that people have a higher expectation, so we won’t just make a bigger one; we want to bring more innovation to our next model.” The image also names an “AMS 2 Pro” – a new material changer system that would presumably accommodate dual-hot ends.

That said, the “ifs” here are big ones. The Reddit post itself emphasises the images were “allegedly” taken from a hard copy of a box label from a printing press contracted by Bambu Labs. The account that posted to Reddit is a new one, created the day of the post, and another Redditor suggests the image was obtained from “a WeChat group.”

Some pushback on the alleged leak on Bambu Lab forums might help fuel skepticism, with one user pointing to results on a reverse Google image search that show dates in 2022, and would seemingly debunk the main Reddit image’s authenticity. It’s worth noting that our own searches haven’t turned up earlier instances of the image, though.

Regardless, there’s probably not long to wait until we know the truth. Bambu Lab initially confirmed to All3DP that its new printer would be released this year, then subsequently delayed it in October. A leak like this could fit that timeline. As of now, of course, everything is unconfirmed and should be treated with suspicion – but keep your eyes peeled for updates.
